Malaysia Pakistan Businees Council or MalPak held a Launch & Networking dinner on 11th September 2019 at J.W. Marriot Hotel for its members in the vision of enchancing its membership further by having its membership drive. The dinner was held to bring together both the old and new members of MalPak for a networking session at the dinner function and also to launch its new corporate video. This event brought together many business owners, directors of the corporate sector and solo-entrepreneurs from various industries for an exclusive networking experience.
The Chief Guest for the dinner was the new High Commissioner of Pakistan to Malaysia Madam Amna Baloch who recently arrived in Malaysia. Other main guests also included Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yasin Member of Supreme Council PPBM, Datuk Wira (Dr.) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin, Managing Director of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd, Datuk Sri Shaheen Shah Sidek, Managing Mannging Director of Ri-Yaz Group Hotels & Management, Datuk Rahman Harun, Chairman of Summit Hotels & Resorts Malaysia, Vice President of the Malaysian Inbound Travel Association, Encik Anuar FazalDin and many others who are key industry players in Malaysia.
In the keynote speech from the Chairman of MalPak, Dato’ Sri Mohamed Nazir Meraslam emphasized the need for its members to be actively looking to expand their businesses with Pakistan as Pakistan has tremendous opportunities to offer to Malaysia. He mentioned that Pakistan is a huge country with a population of more than 200 million and with plenty of resources. In fact the Head of States of both country have made official state visits and have pledged to actively engage to increase trade between the two countries.
Some of the easy picks includes sectors involving tourism, which Pakistan has a lot to offer as a Halal tourist destination for Malaysians. In this regards, MalPak together with the Malaysian Inbound Tourists Association (MITA) is planning a Familiarisation Trip to Pakistan for a formal introduction and to conduct B2B sessions with their Pakistani counterparts that will benefit tourism for both countries.
The High Commissioner of Pakistan, Madam Amna Baloch in her speech emphasized that the trade imbalance is in Malaysia’s favor. Thus it is crucial that efforts are taken to address the imbalance and look forward to forge business alliances between both countries. She has offerred her office to extend any assistance that is required to advance this agenda with the Malaysian counterparts. Madam Amna Baloch also took her time to meet up with a big number of business leaders during the networking session.
The Malaysian Pakistan Business Council or also called MalPak was formed in the year 2013 with a view to enhance bilateral trade between Malaysia and Pakistan, both in terms of trade and investments. Malpak’s role is very much as a trade conduit between the two countries to take advantage of the free trade agreement (FTA) that was signed in 2007.
